Gold futures rose marginally by Rs37 to Rs76,940 per 10 grams in futures trade as speculators created positions on a firm spot demand. Silver futures increased Rs82 to Rs92,279 per kilogram as participants increased their bets.

On Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold contracts for February delivery traded higher by Rs37 or 0.05 per cent at Rs76,940 per 10 grams in a business turnover of 12,338 lots. Fresh positions built up by participants led to a rise in gold prices, analysts said. Globally, gold futures rose 0.12 per cent to $2,646.77 per ounce in New York. On MCX, silver contracts for March delivery rose Rs82 or 0.09 per cent to Rs92,279 per kg in a business turnover of 25,032 lots.
